“Character is like a statue.” SPIRIT TO WAR
Finally, my third child is born!
I started to write this book in 2017 but hardly to finish it till the December 2018. Spirit to War is really special to me because it is the combination of my writings in 2011-2012 and 2017-2018. As you read chapter by chapter, you may feel the difference on the dynamic of each story.
Originally, I planned to publish this book in early October alongside with birthday celebration. However the situation in Palangkaraya was not good at all. My team and I at Ranu Welum were extremely busy fighting against the fires and toxic haze 24/7 in the past 4 months; opening haze shelter and saving over 500 lives from smoke inhalation, going to battle the fires, conducting medical service to the village and striking the government so they might take action. Anyway, I had to cancel the plan till the unknown time. My people and my home have always been in my top priorities. [ Click here to read what Ranu Welum team is doing]
Fighting against those odds was another story to talk. Somehow, I do not think I could ever make it through those four months if I do not learn how to stand firm on my own feet in my earlier days. It does not matter whether you are a pastor or an activist, a Bible teacher or an employee; the values are there. It is applicable in any area of life.
I remember once my mentor ever said, “Character is like a statue. Today it is there and tomorrow it’s still there. It does not move even only one inch.” It means no one or no circumstance should ever dictate you on how to talk or behave, or to make decision. Persistent, committed, integrity, fighting spirit, hard working, excellent, etc are the values that result choices, which then define your future.
So, I will let you know the date of the book launch!
